Skilling under PMKVY now comes with benefits. Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) is the flagship scheme of the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE), and is implemented by NSDC (National Skill Development Corporation). If you are enrolling for a certified skilled candidate under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY 2016-20) then look out for Kaushal Bima and Digi Locker facility which has been introduced under Skill India mission. These two benefits have been implemented by the GOI to create a positive impact on the vocational training and incentivise the youth who are keen to join the skill development programs. What are these benefits?

Kaushal Bima ( Personal Accident Insurance Cover): NSDC has collaborated with The New Indian Assurance Company Ltd (NIA) to provide Kaushal Bima insurance to the candidates. Kaushal Bima is a personal accident policy for the candidates skilled and certified by/through National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). As per the current IRDA, it provides a coverage for a sum insured of 2 Lakhs for Accidental Death/Permanent Total Disablement for a period of three years from the policy generation date for the candidates certified after 31.03.2018. A special toll free helpline will also be made available to the insurer for addressing their queries.

DigiLocker facility: Taking a step towards transforming India Digitally, this service is an initiative aimed towards reducing the need of carrying physical documents by Indian citizens. DigiLocker is a “digital locker” operated by the Government of India that enables Indian citizens to store certain official documents on the cloud. Hence, it becomes a platform for issuance and verification of documents & certificates in a digital way, and therefore it helps in eliminating the use of physical documents. The certified candidates, when sign up for a Digi Locker account get a dedicated cloud storage space that is linked to their Aadhaar (UIDAI) number. Organizations that are registered with Digital Locker can push electronic copies of documents and certificates (e.g. Driving License, Voter ID, School Certificates) directly into candidate’s digital locker.

Commenting on the benefits, Shri Rajesh Agarwal, Joint Secretary and CVO, Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, said “PMKVY (2016-2010) aims to provide quality training to build skilled and job-ready workforce catering to the evolving demands of the industry. PMKVY offers an array of features to benefit the recipients, making it an effective and a friendly skill development scheme. This is our aim to empower and give access to our candidates with new age digital solutions.”

Proud to be associated with PMKVY project, Mosaic whole heartedly welcomed these new benefits and is supporting the good cause by passing on all the relevant information to the candidates who are coming onboard post 31 March’19 for the vocational training programs.
